Biogas Heat Exchanger

The CALORPLAST biogas cooler is constructed entirely from corrosion-resistant polyethylene (PE), ensuring long-term durability in the presence of aggressive substances commonly found in biogas. This all-plastic design is ideal for processes requiring frequent cleaning during short downtimes.

Thanks to CALORPLAST’s proprietary technology, a large heat transfer surface is achieved in a compact design, making the CALORPLAST biogas cooler significantly shorter than conventional shell-and-tube heat exchangers. The system is engineered for biogas volumes up to 1,000 m³/h (approximately 590 SCFM) and is delivered as a ready-to-install unit, complete with flange connections, baffle plate, droplet separator, and condensate drain. Installation is performed on the pressure side, with a maximum gas-side overpressure of 40 mbar (0.58 psi).

The plastic construction is less prone to fouling than metal alternatives, and the heat exchanger can be easily pulled out from the side of the housing for cleaning—no need to disconnect the gas line.

Based on customer requirements, the cooler can be sized across multiple performance classes, supported by computer-aided simulation to ensure proper selection. Manufacturing is then completed according to customer specifications, with all standard industry connections available.
